1. Once again, NOT in the center of the seam create a spiderweb rose with a 7mm silk ribbon. Add a ribbon stitch bud.
These spiderweb roses work well too with all 6 strands of DMC but only one strand to create the spokes.

2. Stitch another rose close to the first and add a couple of ribbon stitch buds.

3. Further along the seam add the third rose and buds.

3. To create a calyx for the buds simple add two ribbon stitches on either side of the bud. Be very careful not to go through any of the silk ribbon on the back of your work when working the calyx stitches.

4. Lets add some small beads to the center of the roses and a scattering of pearl beads around the roses - less is more here!
You may notice that the beads in the center of my roses are not lying on their sides - that's because I have only gone through the beads once and not twice as I normally do. I am not entirely sure that the beads I have chosen are correct - so I will wait until the whole block is complete and then make a decision and secure them firmly down.

5. With a 4mm silk ribbon stitch leaves for the roses with a bullion lazy daisy. You can create interesting angles with this stitch by gently pulling them in the direction you want them to lie.

6. Now for the fun part - create movement with twigs made up of stem stitch with lazy daisy leaves and fern stitch - all done in Perle #8. Connect those "floating" leaves to the roses.

-------------------------------------------------------
Seam that connects piece #5 to pieces #2 and #4
Threads used:
Perle #8
Nymo beading thread
Small beads
Stitches used:
Fly stitch
Single bead stitch
1. Because both the seams on this block are busy and "full on" I am using a simple repetitive stitch to create a quieter seam treatment.
Stitch a series of fly stitches along the seam with a Perle #8 thread.

I am really enjoying this block - it's a little fussy and pretty - but, oh, so much fun to do!
Till next time.
