Block #4 - Pattern #3

Wow, we are now onto block four!

                                       Pattern #3

Seam that joins piece #6 to pieces #5, #2 and #3

                                                  Threads used:
                                                        2mm silk ribbon
                                                             Perle #8
                                                        Nymo Beading thread
                                                           Stranded cotton
                                                          Small beads

                                                       Stitches used:
                                                             Twisted chain
                                                           Straight stitch
                                                         Single bead stitch
                                                          Looped cast on stitch
                                                             Colonial knot

1. Using a 2mm silk ribbon or a Perle #5 stitch a curved twisted chain over the seam.

Twisted chain is up there being one of my favorite stitches. She can be a little testy but if you follow the rule of embroidery which is pulling the thread out of the work in the direction you want the stitch to lie - you will have no problem. So, as you complete the twisted chain pull the thread along the surface of the work.

2. With a Perle #8 stitch two straight stitches and add some small beads.

3. Add a few loop cast on stitches with a Perle #8 (there are 18 cast-on wraps in my little bud) onto the legs of some of the twisted chains.

I, unfortunately, do not have cast-on instructions in both my books but they are pretty easy to source. Remember to take the smallest bite out if the fabric to make the cast-on curve into a tight circle.

Once this is done -secure the tops of the cast-on buds with straight stitches and colonial knots.

4. Lastly add some lazy daisy leaves in Perle #8 to the cast-on buds.
