Something special - crazy hexagons

A few months ago I was contacted by Margaret from Canberra telling me that she was doing some crazy hexagons. She very kindly told me that she was using the hexagon patterns and finishing technique from my book "Foolproof Crazy Quilting".
As my son and DIL live in Canberra, I got to meet Margret and see some of her outstanding embroidery - not just crazy quilting.
Recently, the Canberra Embroiderers guild had a retrospective of her work - 70 years of embroidery. Oh my gosh, how I would love to have seen all her work in the flesh. Sadly, I could not.

Thankfully, she sent me some photos and was more than happy for me to share her work.

I just need to make it very clear, that I had nothing to do with Margaret's embroidery or embellishing of  her hexagons. All of the creativity showcased are hers , Margaret simply used the patterns and the finishing technique from my book.

Please enjoy her magnificent work.

Many thanks, Margaret, for allowing me to share your outstanding work.
Hopefully, I get to see you next time I am in Canberra vising my very new grandson.

Deb B's embroidered pincushion

Apologies for the "not great" photos BUT you can see still the beautiful work Deb did on her pincushion.

I while back I suggested that I teach some Brazilian embroidery

Deb was one of my "students" who took up the challenge.

On black linen, the embroidery really stands proud.

Crochet flower is the crowing glory!

Such beautiful work, Deb.

Till next time.

Elenore's elegant crazy

As I said in the previous post, I am taking advantage of sharing some of my students work as I have it on hand after my trunk shows.

Here is Elenore's very beautiful work.
She came to my classes as a very proficient embroiderer, as is evident in her work.
Enjoy!

Its been a while

It's been awhile between posts - I have been busy; making "stuff" for my first grandchild due in a couple of weeks, teaching (a lot) and a few trunk shows to do.

I always love to show my students work at my trunk shows- so I took the opportunity to take a few photos to share with you.
You may have seem some of this work before.........................

This beautiful crazy belongs to Elaine.

Enjoy!

A big thank you to Elaine for allowing me to share her stunning work.

Goodbye, or rather, Au revoir (part 3)

Norrie's work (Mary's sister - how fortunate they are to do workshops together?)

Its all about the colour for Norrie
Gorgeous freeform flowers (page 91 Foolproof Crazy Quilting) and beaded pointed petals (page 82 Foolproof Crazy Quilting)

Norrie used the Chain feather stitch (page 71 Foolproof Crazy Quilting) very well against the buttons with beaded tassels (page 83 Foolproof Crazy Quilting).

I also like her double edged zigzag chain with the little flower sequins.

Beautiful simple use of buttons.

Norrie's elegant pearly spider (page 89 Foolproof Crazy Quilting) climbing over the chevron stitch.

Tiny little bees buzzing around the delphinium (page 83 Foolproof Crazy-Quilt Projects) one delphinium with ribbon stitches, the other with ruched ribbon roses  (page 90 Foolproof Crazy-Quilt Projects)

Oh, feather stitch, one of my favourite stitches - done so well by Norrie.

Buttons and feather stitch

Wonderful colour palette

Neat, even stitches

Interesting seam treatments

More feather stitch and a garland of silk ribbon flowers (page 35 Foolproof Crazy-Quilt Projects)

!!!!colour, colour, colour !!!!!
Sequin fun (page 84 Foolproof Crazy-Quilt Projects)
Buttonhole pinwheel (page 70 Foolproof Crazy Quilting)
tiny beaded leaves (page 80 Foolproof Crazy-Quilt Projects)

Always something new to see.

Busy but clean and clear.

Norrie was fun to have in a class - she has a thing for unicorns!!

Spider web  - not so easy to do (page 88 Foolproof Crazy-Quilt Projects)

I will miss Norrie and Mary.

Hopefully we will meet again.

Thank you so much for coming to my classes, Norrie.
Your work is wonderful.
Till next time
