Crazy quilting - CACA - the last class................

I am always a little sad when I come to the end of workshops that I teach at various groups.................
The Caloundra group is no exception............ we met to put the finishing touches on their projects done over the last 6 lessons.
Here is Anne's work..........

.............we have a few seams to embellish...........................

...........we planned where we needed to add an extra bead or stitch.................

Anne will finish her block off at home ..........................

Anne told me that she felt she was working outside her comfort zone...........

......................... it looks as though she is very comfortable in this crazy zone too!!

Her colours are great - I always believe that the fabric choice is crazy is very, very, very important!!

I look forward to see her blocks joined.............

................................ well done Anne - I love the work you have produced!!!!!

Tuesday crazy quilting class

Wendy M has completed her wedding crazy sampler.............. it looks very good.

..................it is a very sentimental piece of work............

and everything has memories associated with it.

...................... beautiful work, Wendy M!!

Now, Elaine has also come to the end of her bag ....................cutest little ants!!!

Typical, Elaine - colours and detail........................

I can see that she has got her crazy quilting mojo back!!!

Which is always a good thing!

Both Elaine and I love a bit of feather stitch!!

Crazy quilting Tuesday class......"Fool Proof Crazy Quilting"

I was so excited to see Cheryl's work on Tuesday morning, she had recently purchased my book "Fool Proof Crazy Quilting" (http://www.ctpub.com/productdetails.cfm?PC=3044). For those living in Australia the book is available from www.patchworkangel.com.au
Some of her seam treatments were taken directly from the book which I found so rewarding.

This fan stitch treatment is on page 58 stitch A1-A5. Dragonflies on page 86.

The pearl grapes - page 56

The fly stitch combination we worked on in class.

The chain stitch and bead combination is on page 32 stitch A1-A3. The spider is on page 89.

The feather stitch combo was repeated in a different colour way.

Fan seam treatment page 58

This arched seam treatment is on page 30 stitch I1-I7 . Its always so fascinating for me to see how unique all our crazy is  - Cheryl's seam treatments look totally different to mine but we both used the same stitches.

A special crazy quilt

Anne joined my class and informed me that her granddaughter was turning 21 in 6 months time and she wanted to make a crazy quilt for her 21st gift.
I asked Anne is she had done crazy before - she said NO.

Well, we jumped in with both feet - here is the lucky recipient of this beautiful quilt.............

Completed quilt with lace as sashing.................

Pretty charms.............

Great use of all sorts of threads............

Beads and braids............

Cute little basket of flowers.....................

Luscious silk ribbon embroidery..................

Pearl buttons...................

The very energetic Anne - and YES she made this quilt in 6 months ..........well, less than six months as holidays and overseas guests got in the way..............

And to complete it all - a beautiful label for a beautiful quilt for a beautiful granddaughter .
